The UCLA Nathanson Family Resilience Center (NFRC) is pleased to announce a partnership with Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valley and their Habitat for Heroes Program. The Habitat for Heroes Community project will provide housing for Veteran families in the Santa Clarity Valley and San Fernando Valley in collaboration with the California Department of Veteran Affairs. Families will have access to services that promote education and self- sufficiency, including programs specifically designed to address the needs of Veterans. September 19, 2013 A Window Between Worlds (AWBW) is proud to partner with Habitat for Humanity, San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys to add healing art workshops to the Enrichment Services they provide for disabled and low income veterans and families of the fallen. Habitat for Humanity SF/SCV is currently working in collaboration with California Department of Veteran Affairs (CalVet) to build over 100 homes for this military community. Cruise Industry Employees Help Build Home for Los Angeles Area Veteran WASHINGTON, DC, September 11, 2013 — To mark the National Day of Service, more than 90 employees from the cruise industry volunteered today with Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valleys (SF/SCV) to build a house for a veteran in the Southern California area. Volunteers from three Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) member lines – Princess Cruises, Cunard Line and Uniworld Boutique River Cruises – joined the “Habitat for Heroes” initiative, which was created by Habitat for Humanity SF/SCV and the California Department of Veterans Affairs to help build 12 houses for low-income veteran families. Anheuser-Busch helped frame the Hernandez family’s home on Saturday Sept. 9 in Habitat for Humanity San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valley’s 12-home Habitat Enriched Neighborhood™ for veterans in Sylmar, CA. This will be the very first home for the Hernandez family. Efrain and Valerie, both Army Reserve veterans, and their three daughters are currently living in cramped quarters and are looking forward to having a place of their own with reasonable mortgage payments they can afford and a safe community for their children to play.
